Designing in Dialogue

Good architecture is created in a dialogue. And it takes social responsibility. An optimal solution for a building project can only be achieved when one asks the right questions. Often these are unusual questions, sometimes simple, and frequently they seem to want to combine what cannot be combined. How the process of designing in dialogue finds an architectural answer to these specific questions is demonstrated by the examples from gmp’s oeuvre selected for the exhibition.

The initiators

The “Designing in Dialogue—Architectural Answers” traveling exhibition was curated by the German architects’ practice von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp). With over 500 members of staff distributed across eleven offices, gmp is active throughout the world. Since its formation in 1965, the practice has completed almost 500 projects all over the world.
